The Shashti-upakarma includes Alepa(local application), Upanaha(Local fomentation), Vimlapana(Softening), snehana(Local oleation), swedana, chedana-bedhana(excising the dead/necrotised/devitalised tissue), lekhana(scraping), Eshana(Probing), Aharana (Extraction), Vyadhana(Puncturing), Visravana(Drainage), Seevana(Suturing), shodhana(Purification) of wound using Kashaya, kalka(medicated paste), shodhana ghrita/taila(medicated ghee/oil for external use), Vrana dhoopana(Fumigation for wound), Roopana(Healing) of wound using Utsadhana(promoting granulation tissue), Avsadhana(removing dead/hypergranulated tissue), vykrutapaha(restoring normal colour, function and structure of wound), bandhana(Bandaging), vrana basti, krimigna(disinfection), and general treatment like basti, vishagna, nasya, pathy-apathya and Raksha Vidhana etc to improve the overall health of the sufferer.
